Growing Chillies/ Peppers in hot & humid tropical climate is usually a no-brainer. The plants love them. However since these are fruiting plants, more care is needed to keep the plant stress free as time to fruiting takes longer the harvesting for leafy vegetables.
Stress free chilly pepper plants require good soil, adequate moisture (consistent watering) and sometimes shade from the overly harsh afternoon sun. Chilies also prefer NOT to have their roots disturbed so do try to plant them directly into the ground/ container where they will mature.
Depending on Varietal, most Chilli Pepper plants are annual and grow into small or medium sized bushes from half to to two metres tall.
Chillies are suitable for container gardening and beginner guerillas.
